Food support resources

It’s smart to get food support! If you are having trouble making your food last to the end of the month, here are many resources that may be helpful to you.

Resources at Kids Eat in Color:

Affordable Flavors Meal Plan: The Affordable Flavors meal plan is free to families on a tight budget. It’s a resource that can help families make their food last the month. It helps take some of the brainwork out of meal planning, shopping, and cooking with recipes that are full of flavor.

National resources

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC): WIC provides food for pregnant and postpartum moms, and children ages 0-5. You can find your nearest WIC location here

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP: Formerly known as Food Stamps, this program provides a monthly benefit to be used for the purchase of food for you and your family. You can apply in the state in which you live.

SNAP & WIC “Double Up Bucks” are available at many farmers markets. The program doubles your buying power with your SNAP or WIC benefits when you use them at the farmers market. You can ask your local farmers market if they participate in this.

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP): The NSLP provides free or reduced priced, balanced lunches for kids at school, childcare centers, or after-school programs. To apply, contact your child’s school.
