Veggie & fruit roll-up ingredients
This tasty and healthy snack is made with simple ingredients. You need about 2½ cups of fruit and ½ cup of veggies, so feel free to swap in your favorites. Here are the good-for-you ingredients in this homemade fruit leather.
Peach and mango combine to make a sweet and tropical treat. If you love peaches, try our peach oatmeal bake for a wholesome and delicious breakfast.
Are these healthy fruit roll-ups sweet?
These homemade fruit roll-ups are deliciously sweet thanks to the fruit and maple syrup. If you are using a fruit that is overly ripe, you may choose to omit the maple syrup. If you don’t have maple syrup, switch up your sweetener by using maple syrup, honey or agave nectar. They will still taste great!
How to make the best fruit leather & roll-ups
Blend together fruit roll-up ingredients in a food processor until smooth.
Cook the mixture on medium-low heat on the stove for about 10 minutes to reduce slightly.
Pour mixture onto a parchment-lined sheet pan and spread it into a thin rectangle.
Bake at 170 degrees / 76 degrees C for 4-5 hours until no longer sticky.
Let cool, then slice the fruit leather into thin strips and roll them up to make fruit roll-ups.
The secret to making the best fruit roll-ups
The secret to making these roll-ups is all in the technique. The oven is set to a very low temperature, which almost makes it act as a dehydrator. The cooking time can vary based on the produce used – they’re baked just enough until they’re no longer sticky.
Once they’ve cooked through and cooled, you can either remove them from the parchment paper and eat them as healthy fruit leather, or cut out strips and roll them up with the parchment paper still attached, then tie them up with a piece of string or twine.
Kids will love opening up their lunchbox at school or daycare to find one of these delicious fruit roll-ups tucked inside. You can serve them as part of a snack, as a side to a meal or as a dessert. And, though these snacks are typically geared towards kids, the whole family will have a hard time resisting this fun mix of fruits and veggies!

These healthy fruit roll-ups (with veggies!) are a fun, homemade version of the childhood favorite.
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees F / 76 degrees C. Line sheet pan with parchment paper.
In a food processor, blend together all ingredients until smooth.
In a saucepan on medium-low heat, add fruit and veggie mixture. Cook for 10 minutes to reduce slightly, stirring occasionally.
Pour onto the prepared sheet pan. Spread as thinly and evenly as possible into a rectangle with a spatula.
Bake for 4-5 hours or until the fruit is no longer sticky when you touch it.
Let cool completely and then cut into strips. Roll up the strips. Store in an enclosed container.
Notes
You can substitute maple syrup with honey or agave.
You can use any fruit and veggie combination that appeals to you, but note that more starchy fruits and veggies (banana, sweet potato, carrots, etc.) will take a bit longer to dry out. You need 2½ cups of fruit and ½ cup of veggies.
For an alternative, try this recipe with strawberries and blueberries as the fruit and boiled or steamed broccoli as the vegetable. I suggest using 2 Tbs. of maple syrup and baking for 4 hours to dry out the mixture.
This dish is intended to be served as a snack, side or dessert.
